Default Rubicon trail

Anyone from the Oregon/Washington are planning to do the rubicon trail this summer? I want to go but would be better with a group.

If you do go, I'd like to tag along. It would also be my first trip.

I know there's a jeep jamboree down there, but what is typically suggested for mods to complete the rubi w/o major damage? could you get by with a 2" lift, winch, and luck? Oh, and good buds to push your limits?

Jeep uses the Rubicon to test vehicles. You can take a stock jeep and just hit the bypasses.

Having run the Rubicon, I would say it would not be a good idea to run a stock Jeep through it. Unless of course you care nothing about your Jeep, and can afford repairs, plus the willingness to be strapped off of nearly every rock. The time it would take to reach the other side would be days.
There are simply not bypasses to everything. Could it be done? sure.

I don't speak from experience, but from marketing hype. If jeep trail rates their vehicles on the Rubicon, why would a stock to mild jeep get torn up? Asking out of ignorance, not attitude.

I know it's rated ten out of ten in the guidebooks for difficulty though, which is why I was asking. Are there enough bypasses to make it through with a minimally mod'd Rubicon (hence the name), or do you need a 4" lift and 35's. Obviously that sort of mod would make it easier, but is it driveable w/o?

During the bigger organized runs, you could run the trail with the Jamborees and do ok, for the reason being, they stack rocks to make the trail as easy as it can be. Stock Jeep run through parts of the trail with bypasses. And at the Jamborees there are folks spotting you and people that will fix your rig. These big runs cost money to attend and would be your best bet having your heart est on doing this trail.

With out the jamboree, it's tough trail, big boulder fields. No outside spotters and break downs could force you to fetch parts from far away. I would recommend if I were running a group through, at least 35" tires with a 3.5" lift and rocker guards and tow points f/r
