Seattle Area Opinions
So, traffic and high cost of living are downsides - sounds a lot like Austin. I like the look of Tacoma. How bad is the traffic to and from the Kent area on a typical day? I'm spoiled now because I live about 3 miles from work, and don't have to get on any highways. I want a safe community with good schools for my family. My wife's a teacher, so we're hoping to get her a good gig somewhere close, too.
My first interview is Wednesday, so I'll know more about my chances after that. I appreciate the insight and I look forward to learning more.

Commuting town to town or city to city is never easy in the Everett-Tacoma area. That being said there's a great train between Tacoma and Kent. I used it from Tacoma to Seattle and loved it. Tacoma gets a bad rap from some of the late 80s early 90s problem but it develops like crazy every year and just keeps getting better and better. West End, north end, old town etc all great areas. Don't trust anyone that doesn't live in Tacoma on the opinion of it. Ha!
I guess I'd have to see how it compares to Austin traffic. I feel ours is pretty horrible, and it's bad compared to other cities I've traveled through during rush hour.
Good insight. This gives me a good idea what to expect.
