Stevenson WA Saturday April 24th
I will be headed out with some of my family this Saturday (April 24th) for Stevenson WA. The trail head is located just over the bridge of the gods if you're coming from the Oregon side, or just off of Hwy 14 if you're on the Washington Side.
Oregon-
Take hwy 84 East to the Bridge of The gods, toll fee is $1 for cars(and Jeeps) w/out trailer.
Take a right turn onto WA Hwy 14
Take a left onto Ash Lake Rd
Washington side-
Take hwy 14 East
Take a left onto Ash Lake Rd
Ash Lake Rd will run into Blue Lake Rd which is where we will meet. The intersection is at the base of an old gravel logging road.
I plan on being at the base of Blue Lake Rd at ~10:30AM. If you are unable to make it to the head of the trails by that time my # is -----. We will drive down real quick to guide back up. There is also a state authorized shooting range. 2 Ranges, one 150yd+ range and an adjacent 50yd range. There is no range fee, no sale of ammo or equip, etc. Bring everything you need to shoot. To my knowledge it is weapons open (no restrictions). I will be bringing my Glock 31 & Mossberg 12ga. The girlfriend is bringing her Ruger10/22 for some after trail target depending on the weather and range availability-it's a first come, first shoot outdoor range.
There are NO BATHROOMS. The nearest gas station (and official bathroom) is in downtown Stevenson which is 10-15min away. Also Skamania lodge is just past Ash Lake Rd., they also have bathrooms & food but may be wary of us tromping through their lobby in mud soaked boots (I go through the side entrance
). Please respect the locals who frequent the range/trails, almost all are friendly, don't disrespect their area w/trash-bring out what you take in.
Suggested Jeep Set-up:
ANY stock 2/4dr JK will have a great time on the trails, all extreme challenges are 100% by-passable. The stream crossing was passable for a stock JK, if it rains a lot this week it may not be. If you plan on doing the hill climbs/descents 35" mud terrains and lockers are a +. The deep mudholes will require 3-4" of lift and 35's. If you plan on doing the mudholes with less lift/tire than that I do have recovery equipment and a winch. A majority of the trails can be ran in 4hi and most of the rollers/break overs are pretty easy to get up in 4lo.

I meandered up there - prolly missed ya by an hour or two. Had never been so prolly missed most of the good trails but did find the small stream crossing.

Stock '10 Rubi Unlimited - didnt have any problems but only got to spend a couple hours before the girlfriend got hungry. Definitely want to go back and run the rest of the trails.

I see my tire treads in the mud! ahaha damn. My gf and I were up there around 11 and were done by 1215, she decided not to shoot. My brother and I went back @ ~4

I am going to have to go check out there area one of these days!
I plan on going back in a week or two to explore more towards the table mountain area. I've been doing some google maps surveying and it appears there is a decent amount of trails. It might be private land but worth a shot.
I also need to bring some big hedge clippers, trails are starting to grow in and I got a few nasty scratches
