Default Weekend pics from Naches Trail

Amazingly enough I got another Sunday off work, so I took a few co-workers out to the Naches Trail and to Moon Rocks today. None of them had ever been out there and they all had a blast (thanks again to Gary and Alex for showing me around out there last weekend).

The Rubi took some damage when a large tree limb jumped outta nowhere, but I tried not to let it ruin my day. I knew it wasn't going to stay pretty for long.

Anyhow, here are a few pics.

I usually run that area 4-5 times a year. I'm not a fan of Moon/Funny Rocks but there are some decent trails up there. The Kaner trail is fun (especially when wet or snow covered).

Damage WILL happen. It not a matter of if, but when. WA has some of the best wheeling I've found anywhere. I'm hoping Liberty wasn't hit too bad by the fire.

Looks like you had a blast! Yeah, damage is inevitable when wheeling. Now you have a scar with a story...

Great pictures- thanks for sharing!

Was also a little surprised that the last mile or two of the Naches Trail was blocked off at the bridge. When I was out there last weekend the barricade had a gap *just* large enough to squeeze a Jeep through it. At some point during the week they changed it. :(

Why would they do this?

Hey guys, I was on the Naches trail Sunday as well. I saw you come by as my wife and I were sitting there on a service road that intersects the trail, deciding where we should go next (black rubi). Great looking jeeps! The bridge took flood damage last winter, if you go underneath you can look up and see a section of about 2 or 3 feet of bridge support that is no longer in the bank like it should be. This was disheartening for our camping/jeeping group as well because we like to camp on the other side of the bridge. Earlier in the year it was fully closed, then over time people started moving the rocks to the side enough to get vehicles past. Hopefully they have plans to fix the bridge this fall or next summer.

I need to get with this group to show me around here. We hit the Naches pass trail a couple of times this summer. We never did get to Moon Rocks or Funny Rocks. The first trip found us at a bunch of locked gates. A buddy I went with last time says he knows the way from the I90 side so I think we will be doing this in a couple of weeks.

Both times I've been to Moon Rocks I started off 410 and ended at I-90. I forget the exit number off 90, but it's where that huge white fruit stand is. I think the exit is for Thorp Hwy. Pretty easy to navigate to Moon Rocks from that side, though there are a few spots that were a bit rocky and I scraped (no lift and stock tires). A couple of narrow spots in there, too.

I could probably upload my GPS tracks for you if you want to see how to get there.

Please do. I am sure quite a few would benefit.

I posted a trip report a month ago or so that is from a run I went on and camped at quartz mountain. I posted the gps track from that run. We started in cle elum and ended at crow creek campground in little naches. we didn't go to the rocks but we did run manastash ridge trail and kaner.
