What do you use, Ham or CB?
I think I know the answer to this question but am going to ask it anyway...
For those of us in the Pac NW which are you using, Ham or CB?
I'd love to get a Ham (mainly for 2m) but think that most folks are using CB. I don't want to have both a CB and Ham so will likely go with what most folks are using...unless, of couse, you all can convince me otherwise...

CB's are more common (and affordable) for off-road use. BUT, you will not have the ability for communications more than a couple of miles in most off road terrain...likewise most areas that I have gone have spotty cell reception too. CB's are great for groups but if you ask me...every group should have at least one HAM for long range emergency communications.
Remember that CB's require no license whereas HAMs do.

If you don't like the idea of long range radio coms "basically" as a hobbie, as most HAMs do, then HAM radio is probably not for you.

I agree 100%. Our club uses CB's on the trails, or convoying to events, but I wouldn't be without my Ham radio!!
I have a Midland CB/Wilson 4Ft fiberglass tuneable antenna, AND, a Yeasu FT-7800 2/440 with a Comet 2/440 antenna.
My XYL says I do have a slight squeal when I talk on the CB, with the Ham off.
I've adjusted the SWR on my CB, it's under 1.4. Could the radios be causing interference? If so, is there some kind of in-line CB filter I can use to stop it??
Thanks
