I'm planning on running trails in CO Aug 12-16th. Meeting a friend in Denver, then heading out the AM of the 12th. Here is our estimated route thus far. Feel free to let me know if you'd like to join or if you have any tips/must see stops-trails.

Day 1: Denver-Marble-Crystal City-Crested Butte (via Schofield)

Day 2: Crested Butte-Lake City-Silverton (via Engineer or Cinammon)

Day 3: Silverton-Telluride (via Black Bear?)

Day 4: Telluride - Ouray (Imogene)

Day 5: Ouray - Montrose - Gunnison - Denver

I'll be travelling from Louisville, so 1111 miles one way. Probably making my mid stop around Kansas City.

 

That'll be a very long day. When we did it, we stayed overnight in Glenwood Springs first.

When you get to Marble, do Lead King Basin to the North first and then loop back to the Crystal Mill / Powerhouse. In 2010 the wildflowers were abundant and there were many waterfalls / alpine streams in the distance. Stunningly beautiful.

Then on to Crested Butte via Schofield. Bring a clean change of underwear for the bridge-with-no-rails crossing and the Devil's Punchbowl!
