Any mountain bikers?

I have a Specialized Stump Jumper Comp with all XTR V-brakes. Had it for 10 years or so. Its a hard tail, but still a great bike. I need to get back into riding. I miss hitting the trails. Its just so hot here in Texas. I can't wait for the fall.

I've got a couple of seasons on my Specialized Epic. Love the Fox shock on the back!
I raced in the early 90's, mostly on the easy to break Stumpjumper M2's, but also an Iron Horse and a sweet little Kona Hot. With marriage, kids and other obstacles it made it hard to keep going. I now ride occasionally for fun and self-abuse. My legs and lungs are sadly not what they used to be! So I drive off-road instead!

I'm slowly getting into this. I grew up on a BMX bike, raced and just stayed on it from dusk to dawn when not in school. I have a 10 plus year old Diamond Back, when you still could get them at a real bike shop, it's a hardtail with a Rock Shox on the front. It is going to have to do for the moment, until I for sure get back into this. I'm a runner and want to get back on the bike to cross train and eventually, enter a triathlon. Not an Olympic, but the ones with the 400m swim, 10 mile mountain bike and 3-5 mile trail run.
I've come to find out that mountain bikes are freak'n expensive! I hope to get into it enough to warrant a new bike, but $500-$1,000 plus is a lot of money.
