Default SNOWboarding

Just moved out to Phoenix AZ, and yes its hot. But winter is all most here, well kind of. And I was wondering if anyone in the 4coners / valley rides. I heard Flagstaff is ok... but has a shitty lift system. Utah is close too, but I've never been there. I'm from CT, but I've been riding in VT since I was in 4th grade. Big Sky was sick too. I guess I'm look for some advice on where to ride / people to ride with. I can't it get it out of my head. Weird cause it's 107 out side right now.

I'm not a boarder Cone, give me skis anyday, but Snowbowl is certainly popular with NAU up there and most college students seem to board now plus they have a board park. You also have Sunrise near Show Low, which at least produces snow, so they can open earlier. Not sure about the conditions or trails, but a good number of people go there, but that may be due more to the limited options in state. There are a couple other smaller places but don't know squat about them. My best bit of advice is if you go to either of these places, go on a weekday and avoid all the SPORS (Stupid Phoenicians On Rental Skis), plus the places are usually packed then, thus the complaints you hear about the lines. On the weekday, you can get in a good 3-5 runs before lunch depending on what trails you hit.

On the bright side, we are surrounded by states that have great places to ski/board. Colorado, Utah, even NM and CA have good places to ski if you are willing to drive.

I can't wait till it snows. I'm tempted to take out my board and go over it but then i'd be even more depressed.

It's never too early, I just booked a Condo yesterday for a week at Silver Star in February. Can't wait for the white stuff to fly. I'm a Skier BTW

Check out Taos Ski Valley. 2008 is the first year they will allow boarding all year. (last year they allowed boarding the last week or so) It has some of the sickest in bounds terrain I've ever experienced. The next closest would have to be Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe.
