I like it but I don't have a use for it very often. Like others have said, it is sharp and fast but not terribly useful. I've shot with the 50 f1.4 and believe if you want a 50, the 1.8 is the way to go and spend the extra on Jeep mods.

Well, I don't carry it all at the same time, but I have ...
Canon EOS 30D
Canon Digital Rebel (the original one)
Canon Rebel (film camera)
Canon A95 (P&S) with Canon Underwater Housing
Canon 24-85 mm f/3.5-4.5 lens
Canon 17-40 mm f/4 L series lens
Canon 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 EF-S lens
Canon 75-200 f/2.8 IS L series lens
Canon Extender EF 1.4X II
(and other, cheaper Canon lenses I never use anymore)
Hoya Pro 1 Digital UV and polarizing filters to fit all my lenses
Lens shades to fit all my lenses
Cokin filters, GNDs of various shades and densities, special effects, and adapters to fit all my lenses
Canon 430EX and 230EX flashes
Gitzo G1028 Mountaineer Tripod with Kirk BH-3 Ballhead, with adapters to fit cameras and lenses to ballhead
I also own a Nikon Photomic FTN with 55-mm f/1.2 lens, and a wide range of original Nikkor lenses. This is a classic collector's camera that I bought when assigned to Thailand during the Vietnam war.
My favorite subjects are scenery and Scouting activities. Here are a few of my favorite pictures ...
Grand prize winner in biannual Scouting magazine contest ... shot with the A95
Shot with the Canon Rebel (film) ...

This looks like a good place for input..
I have a Nikon D-80. couple of standard lenses, clear filter, uv filter(i think).
now I have to actually have to learn how to use it.. anyone have recommendations on how to learn all the settings and what is best for certain situations?

The Magic Lantern Guide for your Nikon D-80 is a nice addition over your owners manual. Trial and error will be your best teacher but look for a course on photography offered by camera clubs or at Technology centers. If you have a local camera shop ask if they know of any classes. Ask on here as well.
