Transit of Venus today
This should be an AWESOME photo op. If you have a good scope, you can view the transit using either a piece of white cardboard or an appropriate solar filter on your scope. I'll be using my filter with the t-adapter to snap some pics. The transit starts at about 5pm CDT and should finish around 7pm CDT.
Happy viewing! Let's see your pics!!!

Here are a few of mine. I took these at about 7-minute intervals (on average...the longest interval was 15 minutes) with my Olympus e-420 and Meade ETX-60 scope WITH SOLAR FILTER!!!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS WITHOUT A SOLAR FILTER!!!! YOU WILL BE IMMEDIATELY BLINDED!!!!

Sun pictures taken through filter with Sun behind cloud bank. In one of these pics (the top one), you can actually see Venus crossing. I thought these filtered images with the cloud bank were kind of eerie and worth posting.

BTW...I was wrong about the ending time. I said 7pm. That was just for those of us watching it in my time zone. The entire event supposedly took about 6 hours from start to finish.

great shots! I haven't been on here in awhile. I got a decent shot showing some sunspots too, it was used on space.com
