Did the Navy ever fully close Roosevelt Roads? I was stationed there, and was curious?

 

Part is returned to the P.R. goverment .Some areas are still used by navy

 

Did they open up Vieques to the public. I know when I left they were going to open up some of the beaches. Vieques would be a great place to wheel, with the major exception of possible unexploded ordinance. The blazers we used to drive couldn't make it through certain trails.

 

Yes some areas are open to the public,You can go to Camp Garcia ,the areas used to target near OP are closed due the descontamination process,they are cleaning and explotion the live munitions
