Why I like Duplicolor bedliner coating.

What kind of prep are you guys doing before you Duplicolor your bumpers? Sanding? 80 grit or so?

I "scuffed" my ARB with 220 grit paper - just enough to take a little of the shine off. In this pic, you can see the original shiny finish on some brackets and the final finish with Duplicolor.

Here's a pic of my Shrockworks sliders that I Duplicolored. The green one has been primed, and then "scuffed" with the same 220 paper I used on the front bumper. You can see the bedlined result on the other slider.

How many cans have you bought so far? I had to put myself on probation as I wanted to just keep finding stuff to spray.

I think you're thinking of the Herculiner that people roll on that's supposed to be super tricky.

POR 15 is basically like powder coating the metal. It's entirely rust proof if done correctly. Using it as a base coat is a great idea. I planned to use POR 15 on my Treks when I order them as they come bare steel without paint. POR 15 then rattle can it. You have to cover POR because it's UV sensitive and UV rays will eventually break down the compounds in the paint. That's why they recommend using a top coat.

A friend here is planning to Dupli-color a set of spare fenders he purchased for that purpose. It's been on his "To Do" list for awhile, but if he gets to it soon, I'll get him to post some pics.

thanks!!

I was eying them up but didn't pull the trigger cause I just wasn't sure. But then I figured I might pull the silver front and back bumper covers off and do those just to see how it turns out on something other then the rockers.

Anyone do the stock bumpers? I know they are already flat/matte black but I wonder if they would look better with some line-x
