Not sure where to go but.... I bought a giant, put about 500 miles on it... Not the greatest bike but in the 600 rang it was just perfect for trails and the beach.... Make sure you get a front shock lock out( ie so you can stand up and peddle for up hills on pavement) ..... It's alot of fun....

Not sure about trails there, but get your mountain bike on Ebay. I got my wife and I both Specialized Stumpjumper FSR's. Paid a total of $2200 for $5500 worth of bike. Mine had about a 100 miles on it and hers even less. A lot of people spend the big bucks and never use them. There are many on there. Look for good feedback numbers on the seller and make sure they have a professional bike shop pack and ship it. Good luck!

You will save money on Ebay, but it won't answer your question of "are there good places to mtb near Henderson"
I've been to the LAs Vegas Cyclery out on the west edge of Vegas, it's a very good shop and I guarantee the staff there is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to trails in the area. So even if you don't buy a bike from them, head over, get a helmet, fitted for shoes, etc... and pick their brain.

for cross country style trails, cottonwood valley, off hwy 160. or start in blue diamond and link to all the trails that way.I havnt been out there in years, but from 1992-2004 I wore the those trails out.
for downhill stuff check out boulder city there used to be a down hill park of some sort out there.

I see you're in Henderson. I like to do some street riding through seven hills to anthem, then hop on a trail behind del web middle school that's fun and scenic. It's pretty good for a close to home trail
