Default Need to Rekey

The key to my Jeep was stolen and I have to get rekeyed. I called Chapman and they said it will be $900-$1000. I HUNG UP. Are they on crack? Does anyone know of a better alternative. Ignition, driver, passenger and tailgate.

Please help!

i could be wrong, but they should be able to to look up your car number and get a key and reprogram it. another car company did it for me years ago.

Will the punks who have the key still be able to unluck the doors with the key itself, not the unlock button?

Don't you have a spare? I was told when I bought my truck (last vehicle before the jeep) that they could re-key from the spare, I was told not to loose both keys or it would cost something like that.

Came back to apartment to get wallet. Pulled into parking spot (10 ft. from apt.) turned jeep off but left key in. Went inside to get wallet. Came back out and key was gone.

That price doesn't surprise me to be honest. Was that installed or just parts?
