Tranny temps with the B&M cooler
Guys,
I just got an Aeroforce interceptor to check on my tranny temps, and I already had installed the B&M cooler 70268 than most of you have.
Haven't really gone out for a while, so I haven't got any of the 'dings' I got when the tranny was running hot on long climbs... Because I just installed the Aeroforce I don't really know what were the temps before installing the B&M cooler
However, coming back to my house today (I live in a hilly area) I saw that the trans temp was reaching 200F (outside temp was 65F) after just a couple of hills...
After finishing the 'hilly' part of the road it came right back to 190...
Does this seem ok to you? What temps are you getting in the city, offroad and climbing?
Thanks for your help!
Hans

I have a 2008 Rubi automatic, no aux cooler.
Today, ambient temp 75, in 4hi, dirt roads with some steep hills, less than 20mph, the tranny temp never went above 165. Most of the time it was 150 or less.
Returning home on hilly paved roads, in 2hi, 45mph, then on the interstate, 65mph, the temp was in the 130 range.
Do you have anything in front of the grill?
Have you removed the air dam?
Are you lifted?
These are a few thing that could raise your tranny temps.

Do you have the aux cooler plumbed in after the stock cooler and before the return to the tranny? If it is in line before the stock cooler then you lose much (all?) of the benefit.
Where did you mount the aux cooler and in what position?
Maybe post some pics of the install if you can.

I am running 35's with 3:73's and the B&M cooler, not sure about yours hvilla. I routinely see the 190-200 degree range on the freeway at 65+ mph doesn't matter if its in OD or not. When I wheel it, it never goes over 160. I am going to 5:13's soon. All that added unsprung weight just kills it on the highway. It seems like there is two different temp ranges for the guys on the forums: guys who see hotter temps and guys who never get over 165. I would like to see a comparison of tire height/ gear ratio/ tranny temps of everyone in here.

Guys,
Thanks for your replies and your comments.
I have to say yes to all of the above. I have an 08 rubi (so that's 4:10 right?), teraflex 2.5 BB, no air dam, rugged ridge front bumper with a superwinch 9. And I'm running 33's (Mickey Thompson's)...
I followed the instructions of the writeup we have in the forum, so if I'm not mistaken that means that the B&M cooler is after the factory cooler.
Here's a couple of pics of my install, from the time I did it (I'll get better ones):

hvilla,
In your description, and photos, I see a lot of things that would restrict air flow through the radiator. All the added weight is a factor, also. Next time you are out, and your temps climb, turn on the air conditioner to force the fan to come on. See if that lowers the tranny temp any.
