winter tires and lift
Hello,
I am installing a 3.5 mid arm rock krawler soon and wonder if it would be ok to just run the stock 32's until spring and make the upgrade on drivetrain, rims, and tires? I understand there maybe a big gap from tire to fender but I would rather trash the stock rims in New England winter weather then new ones.

I don't know anything about lifts and drivetrain, but I can tell you that those tires suck in winter driving conditions. Especially in New England winters. I managed to make mine last in Northern Alberta for one season, but wouldn't recommend it. I'm back in my home town in Eastern Ontario and I'm looking into some snow tires this week before the rush.

My co-workers basement flooded in the spring from the snow melting in Ottawa..you make southern New England snow storms look like a field day.
The stock 32s will be fine for the winter, especially if you live in the city. Take it easy if your are trying to drive through 12" of snow with them, although the esp will help.
AS far as 32s and a 3.5" lift: some have noticed that handling is better with up sized tires vs. the stockers after a lift. I had the esp kicking in when I put the 32s on to get it inspected but this may be because the toe was off.

I have a 4" lift and stock wheels and 32" BFG's which are absolutely fine in the winter - including snow. You didn't mention, that I saw, which stock tires you have. The stock BFG's do great. I drive them in the city and mountains without a single issue.
I'm not sure how much winter wheeling you plan on doing, but I'd be careful with your driveshafts if you're still running stock shafts. The 32's should be fine, although like you said, it might not look great to some due to the large gap.
