Default Did anybody upgrade axle gear ratio by himself?

To me, all upgrade should start from a healthy internal meachnism.

Therefore, I think before resizing the tire, I need to upgrade by stock axle
first (DANA30 front, DANA44 rear, 3.73 ratio, limited rear slip differential).

My plan is to have DANA44 front and rear, upgrade ratio to be 5.13. Add
locker on both axle.

It seems the Ring and Pionion set is relatively inexpensive but the labor
is quite high. Can anybody tell me if it can be done DIY? If so, how much time
and tool do I need for this job

If you are gonna do all that ....

I'll trade my Dana 30/44 with 3.21 + $$$$ for your Dana 30/44 withe 3.73 and LSD ....

It will save me some $$$ and since you tearing yours apart anyway it won't matter to you ...

You can use the cash I include to help out with labor ...

My sister lives in North Port .. and will probably be there for XMAS and we can do the swap.
