Default Question on Mounting Front License Plate

Have recently change residence from Arkansas to South Dakota which requires front and rear license plates. I have a Rugged Ridge aftermarket winch bumper with 9000 Warn winch.

I cannot find a place to mount front license plate. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this. Pic would be great.

Do you have a Hawse or a roller fairlead?
There is a snap on bracket that fits the plate right over a roller fairlead. It just pulls off or rotates up when you need to use the winch.
Any of the Jeep parts places have it.

Do you have the pre-runner/stinger/d-ring attachments with the bumper? I would say if you're hell bent on mounting it to the actual bumper face you're going to need to drill into it...You'll have to mount it to the left or right because of the winch. I would drill the holes seal them up with some caliper paint or bedliner; Then attach the plate with some stainless bolts, nuts, and washers.

I just throw mine up in the window when I park in downtown Portland, only city on OR that requires front plate. When I'm traveling in states that req. on road I shove my plate on the passenger side.

I just slid the top of my plate behind my fairlead and bolted it up. I'm going on 2yrs like that and it hasn't fallen off through some pretty serious wheeling. It has only bent and folded up a few times.

Default lic. plate

I mounted mine to the upper center of the grill. Get an old lic. plate put it behind the grill as a backing plate, then mount your plate with some 1/4" bolts about an 1 1/4" long with nuts and washers on the back plate. Use some kind of a bushing between the 2 plates so they won't pull together. I used 4 1/8" close plumbing nipples. Wish I had a picture but I don't.

This is what I did and it works great. Went to a local auto parts store and purchased a $4.00 univeral license plate mount and attached the maglight clips to it. When you need to use your winch, just pull the license plate off.

If you have the roller fairlead this is the way to go! A buddy of mine did it and it works great!

If you have the Hawse Aluminum Fairlead like me take a look at this.
