From what I have gathered from reading may posts:

1 If you stay with your factory hood latches, some people have success removing the hood spring. However, at the speeds you were driving I don't think that would help you.

2 Most others replace their latches with Daystar. They are a lot tighter fit and many have had great experience with them. A few have posted that they can stretch over time, but the general consensus is they are still better than stockers.

3 The more extreme route is using zip ties to keep the stock latches from stretching.

I have the Daystar upgraded latches and they work great. Here is another really good option as well:

JeepSwag.com has a hood hold down kit that is cheap and pretty effective. I use this kit with the Daystars and my hood doesn't move at all.

I installed the MOPAR hood lock. I was pleasantly surprised to discover it also ended hood bounce.

I've been running the Daystar "hood wranglers" for over a year now, they still work great.

I don't think the hood spring solution will do much to stop a real high speed/high wind gust situation, and the other solutions which rely on tightening up the safety catch also strike me as being a little hokey -- you want the safety catch to be just that, a safety, not the main way to keep your hood tight to your vehicle under normal driving.

Zip tie mod,

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/hood-lift-fix-worked-me-30304/

My local hardware has various length zip ties for 25 cents each so you don't have to buy a pack of 100. $0.50+tax. It works.

The Mopar hood lock does a good job at stopping the hood dance but there is still a very small bit of play when your facing high winds or driving past tractor trailers on the highway. The daystar hood latches are probably the way the to go, adding a hood lock along with those wouldnt hurt anything either if you wanted to do both.

Extreme? You are aware that the zip-ties do not prevent the hood from opening or closing normally, aren't you? If they do, they're not installed correctly. Should be 11" zip-ties, BTW.
