Instead I just wrapped the cable round the framing and pad locked it to itself. Will take a pic. in the morning and post it.
Total cost about $5. (had the pad lock). With it installed and the hood OEM latches opened, the hood doesn't open a bit.
Sorry for the poor photo, used my cell. Used about four feet of cable and two screw type clamps with some blue loctite.
The hood is held down tight, the OEM latches are just for looks now.

The whole padlock thing seems kind of extreme...but it clearly works well. Nice work.

I'm not aware of any 75 mph limits in NC or VA.

I have the Daystars and they work fine.

But the blue and red sign said 85!
Ah, but the white and black sign may have said something closer to 70...

I have to vote for the properly installed wire/zip ties. I bought the daystar and they do work but extremely tight even after being installed for over 6 months. I heard the sheet metal crackeling the first time I closed the latches and the lines of the hood and front quarter panels are off. After I read about the zip tie solution I was wondering why I did not think of that one, being an electrician and having the d@mn things in my toolbox.

I can tell you where I secured mine to, the one without the D-ring. If you look under the front bumper,
behind the air dam thing. You will see a framing part about 3" wide, I think it acts as a skid plate. I ran the cable around that,
than just pad locked the loop to the cable. The other poster added a D-ring instead, and locked to that.
My cost was about $5. and maybe 20 mins. of my time, not counting the time to shop at Lowes.
