Any one have a JK X running 4 inch and 37;s
I was wondering if there is any one with a JK 4 door X model bare bones jeep with an automatic running 37's with a 4 inch lift. would appreciate any info on this set up including pics if you have any, and any and all mods that you did to be able to run this set up, I have seen alot of rubicon's with this but not any X models .
Thanks
Thanks
Have you run a search on this, there are quite a few that are running this type of setup. I don't have an X model but I do have the 30 up front (Sahara) I have the Auto, running the Tera 4 inch lift with 37 MTR's. I use this as my daily driver for 3 years now. I do take it on trails, but I am carefull not to push it. I certainly plan a 44 up front and new gears, but the money just isn't there for all that now.
There are 2 separate issues here that you need to consider. The first, putting a 4" lift on your JK. The second putting 37's on your jk.
Here's what I know...
Item 1, putting a 4" lift on your jeep is "easy". There are many good sponsors out there to help you out. But you'll need springs, shocks, bumpstops, swaybar links, extendbreak lines at a minimum (eveything that comes in a lift kit). you may need new drive shafts (I'm not a 2dr expert, sorry) You'll really want adjustable control arms, adjustable track bars. You may want a drag link flip kit/front track bar relocation bracket (like TF or AEV has) to help get the steering right.
Item 2, getting 37's on your x. As mentioned before if you have a D30 in front you're taking a chance. It's been done many times with success and many times with failure, all comes down to driving style. Go easy, things last longer. If you're going to invest in your D30 (many will say not to), think gussets, sleeves, chormoly axles, etc. Plan for a regear. Plan to cut the rear pinch seam, plan to get wheel spacers or new wheels.
i'm sure I missed something and I'm sure I'll get corrected on it. What you asking is done but just realize your taking a risk. Are you prepared to spend serious cash when your D30 starts giving out? What then?
But with that said it would be awesome to get some 37s under there!!!!

I'm getting my Jeep unlimited lifted now. Wrangler X with 4" lift and 37"...I'm using it as a daily driver but will take it off road sometimes. What the deal with changing the the axis? I know to regear sometime. and what does it mean to have locked D-30?
Here is mine: The details are in the signature.
My advice is if you are intending to build a rock crawler go with 6" of lift. If this is for looks and some functionality then 4 with 37 will be fine.

edit: just saw this was supposed to be about x's not rubi's. sorry.
- Pro's:
- Excelent aesthetic! The lift tire size combo looks awesome
- Great Clerance
- You can really air down
- Con's:
- Your rock rails / body in the rear fender well need to be cut out for proper articulation
- Lots of severe wear on your steering components
- I needed to add spring spacers, 1.75" in the front and 2.5" in the back to get the proper rake given all the extra weight I have with my build.

I just recently upgraded to 37's on my X. I did the gussets and the chromoly axle shafts as well. So far so good. I am very careful on the trails and so far no problems. The test will be Moab at the end of the month.
