My Gig security question and theft questions
I just ordered a new Rubi with the My Gig radio. I’ve been pounding the forums and I have not seen anything about the frequency of theft on these radios. Are they popular targets for the criminal element? Do I need the Tuffy Security enclose for this?
Are these radios basically useless to thieves unless they plan to sell them to someone who wants to upgrade their current jeep radio? Will the My Gig work in another jeep after it is stolen since the thief cannot activate it with Sirius?
Sorry for the multiple/dumb questions. I’m just not a fan of the Tuffy security cover and really don’t want to hassle with it.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Jer

I've wondered about the same thing, but I am not familiar with the theft prevention features if any of the device.
However if you consider the street value of used units, the appearance of the device and the ability to plug it into a select number of vehicles, I don't think the RER is a high value target.
The biggest threat is probably the informed casual theft with an easy target of opportunity if you have a soft top.
You will probably get a lot more responses if you post in the Electrical, Lighting ....
sub-forum. That is where the heavy Radio/NAV system traffic occurs.
