Default Planning a trip to MOAB

O.K im eventually going to make my way to MOAB, within the next three yrs im going to plan a vacation to drive across NA and drive on the famous trail. Right now my X optioned up to a sahara is bone stock except for rubi rims and tires.Looking for help to know what mods i need to do to accomplish these trails keep in mind I'll be driving my rig the 4000 + kms to get there from the east coast of Canada. ....and back (Hopefully),so i dont want to go extreme just enough so i can do the trails, would like to hear from fellow JK'rs that have done MOAB with their insight to what mods are necessary an what isnt, thanks in advance.

Moab has a wide variety of trails--anything from basic dirt roads to extreme rock crawling. And, all of it comes with incredibly spectacular scenery. So, I suggest that you just plan to hit trails that your existing rig is suited for. I'm headed out in a few days and have a permit to camp two nights on White Rim Trail. Nothing very technical about it, but it's like having an E-ticket into the Grand Canyon. Last year during EJS I drove Poison Spider Mesa, which is considered a difficult, pretty technical trail. The mod's required for those two trails are quite different--WRT requires the ability to carry plenty of gear, food, water and extra gas--so a rear bumper with jerry can and trail racks was called for. Poison Spider Mesa calls for a lift, maybe some protection underneath, better than SRA tires, etc. Here are a few pic's from both ...

WRT a couple years ago when the only real mod I had was rock rails (not necessary for WRT)

I strongly recommend Charles Wells' Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails, 2nd edition. The 2nd edition is in color, and if you buy it directly from him, then it's available in a spiral bound version. Great trail descriptions, along with what mod's are required for various trails.
