Default Interested in my first Jeep

Hi Guys. New to the forum. I've been lusting after the 4 door JK Xs since they came out and have decided to go ahead and start the search for one though I do have to unload my '01 Bullitt first.

I saw this one on Autotrader and just wanted to know what you all thought of the price. I haven't priced out many of these since I just started the search, so I'm not really sure what is considered a fair price. While I would prefer a 2"-2.5" lift with 33s, this one does look pretty tough with the 4" and 35s.

Here is a quick pic of the one above:

If there are any tips you all can provide on what to look for when checking out a 4dr JK X, please let me know. As I said, I am VERY green to the Jeep thing but have been involved with Mustangs and other cars my whole life. Actually I'm the founder of a relatively large Mustang club in central NC.

And, just for kicks, this is the car I have to sell before I can even consider picking up my JK.

Thanks for any input you can provide!! It is greatly appreciated!!!!

That Mustang looks gorgeous. The Bullits were the best of the special editions. Amazing wax job on it.

The Jeep looks expensive without knowing more. The dealer's $399 "doc fee" is bullshit. And the owner didn't bother buying 5 35s--the spare looks like a stock size. You can do better on an 07 X for that kind of money.

Thanks for the compliments on the Stang. I will hate to see her go, but it's time to move on from the Stang stuff for a while. As for the wax job, thats about 40 hours of work in that picture. lol. I always use Wolfgang products and top with Poorboys Nattys Blue. Works great on dark colors and metallics. If interested, you can see tons more pics of the car here.

Here I was thinking that that was a fairly good price for the Jeep. All of the JKs in my area seem to be priced near that or higher. Click Here for all 82 currently listed on Autotrader in my area. Just keep in mind when looking through there that I am set on an X Unlimited. Not a Sahara and not a Rubicon. Needs to have power windows and locks, A/C, automatic preferred, 4x4 preferred. I would actually prefer a Freedom top, but a soft top is definitely not a deal breaker.

From the picture you posted, I don't see how that is a 4" lift. If those are 35s that can't be more than a 2.5-3" lift. And from the rake, I'd say it is a spacer lift. While not a bad thing, it is an inexpensive lift to install.

I would say that JK "x" you are looking at has at most a 2.5-3" lift not a lot of fender tire gap for a 4" lift.

A big consideration in your decision I think is when looking find out what rear Axle rating it has 3:21, 3:73 or 4:10's as well if you want an Auto or 6 speed. Some 07 X's & Sahara's did come with 4:10's with tow package. However, don't be fooled by an aftermarket hitch receiver. The factory installed tow package will have the 4:10's in 07 models but in 08 and newer the factory tow package was 3:73 gearing in X's and Sahara's. Rubi's will always have the 4:10 gearing. If you have trouble finding out what gear ratio, have the dealership look up the VIN number.

If you want 35's find a 4:10 gearing JK if possible. If you are considering a 6spd you could live with 3:73 gearing. However, if you get a 3:21 and want bigger tires you will probably consider re-gearing in the near future. With 33's you will be fine with 3:73 gearing.

BTW....sweet stang!

I picked up my 07 Sahara 4X4, tow package (4.10 gears) freedom top and soft top, with 20,000 miles on it for 20k. I have put an additional 7.5k into it since buying it in January with a lift, wheels and tires, regear to 5.13's, and new drive shafts. You will be able to find a good deal, just keep a look out. You might have to travel a ways to get a decent deal. Good luck!!
