Default tire lifespan ??????

Alright, whats the deal-- I rotate my tires every 4-5000 miles and already notice wear. I'm running Toyo open country m/t and was told to expect about 40,000 miles. I just hit 11,000 and can see noticeable wear. Is this normal???

Is the wear even, or do you have a possible alignment or other issue?

But think about it, you're 25% into the stated lifespan. That amount of wear would be noticeable but they should have plenty of meat left.

I have ProComp Xtreme AT's which should also last 40k, with 16k on them, and I started to notice wear around 12k.

"Noticable" is a pretty subjective term. I would suggest measuring each tire just inside the shoulder lugs and in the center of the tread pattern, Compare that to the as new condition and a little math will give you a pretty good estimate of how many miles you should get out of them assuming 3 or 4... or 5 or 6/32 as the end of life depending on your use.
