Pentastar?
I'm ready to order a new Rubicon, but am very hesitant because as soon as Pentastar engine is available, I'm going to want to purchase a new Rubicon all over again. I imagine others are going to want to do the same, and am afraid this will saturate the market, greatly devaluing a 1-2 yr old Jeep (with the smaller engine).
So when is the Pentastar engine going to make it's way over to the Wrangler? Any guesses?
Who else is delaying a purchase until the new engine is released?
I see that the engines for the new Durango are the same as those in the Grand Cherokee: Chrysler's new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine. From what I've read below, it could be one heck a good engine, greatly improving on the 90's technology that is in today's engine, resulting in an increase of 78 horsepower, and an increase of 2 mpg, with a wider torque curve which would help with the mpg when turning larger tires.
Is this too good to be true?
Cheers

Life is too short to worry about what can come next...if the JK works...get it...if not then you wait, but at least you know why you're waiting. Just my .02
I am getting a 2011 in December. I would love to get the new motor, but Im not going to wait. Its like getting a computer. The week after you buy it there is a newer faster model out. There will always be newer, better, cooler things coming out.

The Penstar should be a part of the MY2012. Not sure where the confussion over the timeline is from. This was made as close to as official as possible when they had to lay out their road map for bailout bucks.
For me it wasn't worth waiting. I wanted a 6 speed and found the minvan power acceptable for a 2door. While the Penstar is a move in the right direction, it was'nt worth being jeepless a couple extra years over.

I completely agree with this. Besides, mine won't be complete until there are 8 cylinders resting under the hood, so I would have been waiting for a LONG time.
