No drilling into body, and removing soft top are going to be two of the harder things to get away from. Do you have a hard top that you could run when you want to use the rack? I have an option for that...

Look into the Gobi rack. Theres a vendor on here that has it on special and i come with the extra panel and ladder free of charge. Its frame mounted in the rear and windsheild mounted in the front. Tips back for top removal or soft top dropping. Sweet set up. Thats where im going when im ready for a rack, i think theyre asking 1500$.

I'm still waiting on my Gobi Stealth to ship-out (it's two weeks past due). I chose the Gobi for all the reasons you mention; no-drilling, can take the top down without removing the rack, and the free ladder! I haven't read anything negative about them, yet.

Default racks were a hard for me to decide. So this is what I did

Look at my photo album. I made my own rack for little to nothing compared to manufatured ones. It is a cross between gobi and kargo master.

You need any other info, let me know I'll be happy to help.
