Default stubby bumper illegal in nj?

well after searching the forum and the googles without really find what im looking for, my question is this.. how likely am i to get a ticket in new jersey if i chop my bumper and put a set of end caps on it?
ive found the bumper law online and it read "the bumper must be the width of the vehicle" and i have read that may just be the width of the body without the fender flares and i have read its the whole width .. just looking for feedback from anyone whos any sort of bumper issues in nj..
thanks..

I can't answer your specific question. However, a question I had regarding the legality of a mod was directed to our state police (they monitor our safety inspection program in Missouri).

Try your local state police troop and leave a call back number with your question. Turnaround was about and hour and they were very friendly.

Default Chopped Bumper in NJ

I recently did this a few months ago and have not been stopped. My understanding is that they can ticket you for it. However; as long as I am not doing anything else I don't think it will be a problem.

Note: I did get a ticket for vehicle modification for my cat back exhaust. It was not a bad thing as he stopped me for speeding. Since then I have replaced the muffler with an MBRP Offroad Exhaust.

It is the photo angle as well as the payment goes 'up' before the curb.

just remove the fenders and then it will be the width of the vehicle.

I'm an officer in Northern NJ, and I can assure you that no officer I know would ticket for that. Heck I would pull you over just to check your bumper out to get ideas lol
