Default How bad would 35s be?

My 2007 4dr Sahara needs some new tires and Ive decided to go with the Nitto Trail Grapplers... Here is the problem though..I would LOVE 35's but I am running a 6 speed manual with D44 rear D30 front and only 3.21 gears. I know with 35s I would think Im going to have HORRIBLE power and even worse gas mileage... I do mostly city driving here in Houston but this upcoming January I am driving to Durango Colorado...where there is something we dont see here...hills/mountains/rough terrain and snow There is no way I can afford 35s AND having to regear while still making the expenses for this trip

I have to keep telling myself "35's dont exist!!" so I can just be happy with my 33s, my power, my gas and my money (from not having to regear)....but...like most people Im going to be always asking "what if..."

so opinions or experiences with 35s, 3.21 gears 6 speed would be great or if someone just wants to charge me parts only for the gears and free labor Ill buy you a McDonalds lunch...hell Ill even super size it! thanks

35s DO exist!

I'm running 35" duratracs on 3.21 gears. Power is lacking, but that's why im saving up for a re gear. I get about 12.5 mpg too

christ....12.5? im still stock and i get about 17. 12.5 is a bigger hit than i thought it would be. ordering my tires and lift on friday i've been so excited that im constantly looking at all my gear everyday.

i guess i could take the 5mpg hit... i live in seattle, and there's TONS of hills all over the place. please tell me your power on hills isn't THAT bad...i already know 6th is gonna be gone. and regearing will take a helluva long time.

There are quite a few hills where i am in GA. I just turn OD off when not needed. It should make it a little better, not much though. And what else sucks about having 3.21 gears? Not being able to idle over any obstacles

So you don't have the 6 speed transmission.

I have 3.73 that came with my TTP. Running 35x12.5 (34.7") and have no issues with a lack of power. Thing you have to remember is that you're running a 3.8L V6 and not a 5.7L V8. Meaning, you'll have to downshift earlier when going over a hill. A slightly earlier than that with 35's.

I have 305/70-17 Goodyear MTRs with kevlar d- Range which are 34.1 inches in diameter which are just as heavy as load range C tires in 35 inch size and stock 3.21 gears with 6 speed. It isnt ideal but will work for a year while you save for regear. I ahve had them on since May and I will be regearing around this coming March to 4.88. As long as you are ok with eventually regearing I would go with the 35s and start saving for a regear. Save 100 bucks a month and you will have regear in a year. U will lose 6th gear unless going down hill. 5th gear will be lost on regualar 55mph roads and only useful on highway 65mph. I run in 3rd and 4th gears a lot. Off road it can be challenge to idle over obstacles slow enough.

I have 35s with a 4inch lift with a auto trans and get 12.5 in the city but get around 14.5 to 15 highway.

If you're in Houston id go see lunatic customs. I believe they have a deal going for gears installed for 900$. That's parts and labor. That's a good deal.
