First post! 2011 jk
Hey everyone.
I'm a long time jeep fan and will be a first time jeep owner in the next little while.
Ever since I had my drivers license I've wanted a jeep. A few friends had them and I was hooked at first ride.
I came close to buying a tj three separate times since late high school and obviously never pulled the trigger. 1 Sahara and 2 rubi's
So that's my story, and now I found this forum.
Im considering buying a Jk. Either a '10 left over rubi or an '11 rubi. Whichever I can get the better deal on.
I stumbled on a '11 red rock 4 door rubi fully loaded with leather, dual tops, tow package etc. All but nav.
Are the '11s just as strong as the previous years?
I know the interior is quite different. The rubi I saw had an incredible interior just like the new Cherokee. Almost too pretty for a jeep to soon be lifted with 35+ inch tires.
Being a newbie, is there basics i need to know? I'm def getting a rubicon, so I'll need to brush up on it's components etc
I want to put a 4 inch or taller lift and 35-37 inch tires.
Can I get an all in one kit for the lift? Or do I need to purchase each segment separately?
As for drive shafts, does the rubi have a stronger shaft vs other jks? Or does it need to be replaced also?
And finally, gearing. Does the rubi have good factory gearing? Or will that too need to be swapped?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions. I find it hard to get an exact answer with the search button.

i think the only major differences between the 11 and the 10 is the interior. The rubi should have 4.10s and if u get a 6spd u will be alright with 35s. A 3.5 inch lift would be best becasue if u go any higher than that there will be alot that will need to be changed. 35s will be your best bet. I have a 3.5 rubicon express lift with 35s and love it. If you have the money get 4.88s or 5.13 gears but with the stock 4.10s it will be fine untill u save up, pair that with a superchip flashpaaq and you are good to go.
With a 3.5 inch lift do I need to do ant major work underneath? Welding? deleting etc?
Does a 3.5 inch lift and 35's look decent? I def want the jacked up look while still being able to tackle the off road and keep the street/highway driveability
Also with that setup, the stock driveshafts should be ok?

I just traded my 09 in for an 11. I love the 11. Some really nice additions over the 2007-2010s
I like 35's but know I want 37's
Whichever year I go with it will be a 4 door rubi
Would a 4 inch kit with 37's be ok with all stock components on a 4 door rubi or am I in for alot of work.
Excuse my lack of knowledge and products/manufacturers.
I'll learn quickly

Depends on your budget really. Terraflex has a total 4" setup on sale with their progressive speed bumps and elka shocks thrown in. That's a really nice 100% complete kit with 8 control arms sway bars ect.

I think that people who tell you only 35"s and 2.5 lift are a good daily driver are jealous. With a proper setup you could dd on 42's no prob.
Call Dave at northridge 4x4 or bustabizz (Bryan) at 4wd.com and they will set you up.

i just think 35s on a jeep is a great setup, ive had 37s, 38s, and 40s on previous trucks and that was great on a truck with a v8 but a jeep with a weak 3.8l v6, anything over a 37 is crazy. You need ALOT of money to build a jeep that handle over 37s and be a dd and not have to repair something every few thousand miles.
