Default Axle cleaner

I cleaned out my suspension today and I want to clean up the dirt and grime on my axles. I hit them with boat soap and water today and got a good but off of them but my question is: Has anyone used an engine cleaner to clean their axles. I use the engine clear and it works great for all that grime and I was wondering if it would so the same on my axles. The bottle says nothing about not putting the chemical on them. It's says for engines, boats, tractors and RV's. Anyone have any advice? I think I will try it next weekend.

Dish washing detergent! Cuts grease and oils pretty good! I also use in on my soft top windows. Just stay away from the ones with clorox!!!

I think I'm going to try out the simple green first and if that doesn't do it, then try purple power.

Thanks guys! Great advice! I think I've got more than dish detergent can remove.
