Default Wheels 17x9 or 16x8

Hey Guys,
So i'm upgrading the wheels and tires of my 2010 jeep but i'm torn. The two options i have are 17x9 with 4.75" backspace or a 16x8 with 4" backspace. Now i dont wanna rub even a little at full turn so i suspect the 16x8 with 4" backspace would be just the thing i need. I like both styles of rims but the thing is backspacing and responsiveness now I've heard that the responsiveness of 17's are better when going to a 35inch tire than the 16's but how much and is it really that big a difference. I'll be mostly street driving and off-roading maybe once or twice a month. I'd rather stay away from spacers if i can but if i have to than i have to
what do u guys think?

17"s give you more stability on road with side to side but cost alot more in tires.

16"s are much less expensive but it seems not as many choices in wheels or tires. For offroad tire flex the 16"s when aired down will flex better.

This is ofcourse if your comparing the same tire on the 2 rims.

Its really not that much different so just go with what you like and can afford.
