I am trying to decide what to add to my Jeep next, and have narrowed it down to an Aussie locker for the front or an inexpensive winch.

Any opinions on which I should consider adding first?

 

I was in the same situation a while ago and I decided to go with the winch. The reasons being that 1) While I may get stuck less with a locker, I will still get stuck and a winch will do more to get me out; 2) I plan on regearing someday and figure it's cheapest to add the locker at that time so as to only pay once for labor; 3) I can help other people out with a winch, which gives me good karma.

My vote would be the winch first and then the locker.

 

Ever wheel alone, with no other vehicles? If so, go for the winch.

 

If you learn to wheel (not saying you don't have skills already) with open diff's you'll become a good/better driver. That will pay of big when you get a locker later on. and just in case you get in a situation thats a bit to crazy you've got your winch there to pull you out....

I'd go winch, then locker.....

 

buy a full tank of gas. same price as winch or locker. go alot farther.
