Engine wont shut off in high water
Anyone know why? I found if the exhaust is underwater the engine will not turn off. Im sure it's so water won't get sucked back into the engine. Is this a safety feature?
My rad. Fan was jammed with ice and I wanted to turn off the engine so I could safely clear out the fan, and I'm screaming at the girlfriend to turn off the jeep, and then I look up and she's tapping the key on the windshield! I was like aww hell, what did I do now?!?!? I just wanted to know if this is supposed to happen.

Have you tried to repeat it??

I know for a fact, and yes before you criticize me, that you can turn your motor off while in deep water (well at least muddy water, mostly muddy). My JK is the first jeep I have ever owned, so two weeks after I got it we decided to go out to one of the many trails. Needless to say I didn't know what the hell i was doing and plunged into the first muddy hole i could find and stalled it. Now it did fire right back up but upon doing so it was making a terrible noise (mud in the fan at closer inspection) so i turned it off because of the noise. So to answer your question I can say that when I turned mine off it DID NOT continue to run. Believe me one hell of an adventure for a two week old newbie
I dont mean to laugh but being from up north I can relate.
4wheeler, snowmobile, bike etc all through the ice at one point or another.....
