Default RUGGED RIDGE XHD Front Bumper Question.

Hey guys i have a xhd front bumper.
How do you attach your recovery strap to your D Ring?

I use a shackle to attach the two together.
The problem is the shackle scratches the paint off the D ring and
now i have surface rust.
Its not a big deal ill touch them up with some bedliner...

How do you attach your recovery strap and are your D rings rusted?

Not sure if it's good practice or not but in a pinch I loop the tow strap around the D ring and pull through the the end loop then attach the open end to whatever needs to be pulled. (Assuming I'm doing the pulling)

Pick yourself up a pair of "off-road" d-rings. Then you can keep your "show" d-rings clean.
Hint: Buy the off road d rings at your local farming supply store. Many hardware stores sell them also.

Buy a set of PureJeep or Teraflex bolt-on d-ring mounts to replace the Rugged Ridge ones. They bolt in place.

Duplicolor Spray Bedliner. I use it for my XHD, the wheel wells, rock rails, inside of the hard top. Clean up the rust, spray it, and touch it up any time you need to.

you can use what ever rubber tubing (garden house) cut it in half and put your d-ring in it when you do pulling.
