Default Body lift?

What is a body lift? How is it done? I hear people talking about body lifts as they have no disadvantages or consequences on the Jeep. Is this true? Some pics would help me understand better. Many Thanks indeed guys for the help.

All a body lift does is lift the actually body of the jeep off the the frame, Allowing you you keep all your stock supensions, but run bigger tires. Its done by placing spacers between the frame and the body. Someones else will chim in and explain with better deatails but its a start!

If you have a manual, you'll experience the gears popping out of place often. The body lift does what it sounds like it does. Lifts the body from the frame. Which causes the shifter to lose close contact. You'll have a shorter shifter as well.

This is not a worry, several companies make a shifter adapter to move the shifter away from the body and back up to the normal hieght. I do not suggest lifting over 1" with a body lift though.

The instructions call for 3-4 hours. Many here have posted times of around 2 hours. All you are doing is removing 5 or 6 mounts from each side, adding spacers to them, and reinstalling. If you have a manual, you will add a shift adapter. And some kits (RC, maybe others) will include brackets for raising the rear bumper also.

I am about to have a 1.25inch body lift from rough country. Can you post some pics from JKs with a similar body lift? Will I notice any gaps between the frame and the body? I have an OME 2.5 inch lift and I want to clear 35s.

You should be able to clear 35s with that lift-- I've got the same thing lol. You won't really notice much of a gap between the frame and body. But I think the rough country kit comes with a bracket to raise the rear bumper.

Yes it comes with a relocation bracket for the rear bumper.
