Default TF 2.5" Rear Spring Install

Hi guys,

Doing the TF 2.5" install right now and having a tough time getting the first rear spring in. Trackbar, shock, brakelines and end links are disconnected and the axle is drooping as far as it will go and I have no where near enough room to get the drivers side rear spring in. Do I need spring compressors for this?

I'm doing one side at a time. Should I disconnect the shock, end link and brake lines on the passenger side as well?

Thanks,

Compressors would be a handy tool, but a bottle jack and a block of wood might get you a few inches you need to get it in and lined up properly. Easier if you have everything disconnected. I have the same lift without the springs and had the same issue. Raising one side a little will allow the opposite side to drop a little more as well! Good luck and post pics when you are done!

I didn't need the compressor, just a lot of elbow grease. I would disconnect the shock on the passenger side so that you're not fighting it. I think when we did it we used a jack on the opposite side to pussh the axle up so the other side would drop. Just watch your brake lines as they get extended to the max.

Had this issue when I put my TF 2.5" BB with Rubi coils. Yes, jack one side of axle and it helps to have someone pushing down on axle side in which your coil is going. Remember, your axle will most likely shift so you will need to perform the ratchet strap trick to realign.....

ditto. just compress the other side and you'll have no problem. that's what i did and it worked flawlessly.

X2 for brake lines, I had to pull the E-brake lined from mounts for more play. Don't disengage them, not needed.

Ditto with jacking the otherside of the axel. I installed this lift about a month ago and the hardest part for me was installing the front coils.

Thanks,
If u unbolt both sway bar links at axle, one side of the track bar, and both bottoms of both shocks with a jack under the center of the diff u can lower the whole axle down and the springs will just fall out. Just watch u don't go to low and rip the abs wires or brake line.

It's solid axles it's easiest to work on both sides at the same time. Front and rear.

Take some pics when ur done!

You don't need them, but since several parts stores rent them for free, I used them to install the new teraflex springs.

As others said. Unbolt everything. Just make sure you support the center. The springs will come out by using one hand
