Default tire size question

Can someone please help me. I have been to two tire stores today asking if i can fit a 315/70R17 on my stock rims. I have 255/75R17s on there now. Both stores have given me the same answer..I dont know but we can sell you a rim and tire package. I am really looking to step up to 35's but i want to keep my stock rims and bed line them.

Will they fit? Yes

Will you have issues? No. Lots of people are running this setup.

Will a shop mount them? Depends. As you have found out, the mfg's specs for those tires call for a wider rim, and many shops will refuse to mount them. Just find a shop that will.

They will work fine. 315/70/70 is 12 inches wide not 12.5. I run Mickey Thompson MTZ's that size works great. I have 1.25 wheel spacers. I love the factory wheels.

some stores wont mount........... go to another store!!

Stock Rubi takeoffs are 17x9 and you will need to run spacers. Lift will also be warranted 2-2.5" or some serious fender trim. Your 255's are 32" tires and the 315 are or very close to 34". I don't think a leveling kit will cut it. I just seen a thread recently with a rug running 315 without lift or level and the tired were STUFFED in wheel well. The literally touched the the front bumper (stock)..... If I'm wrong, someone please correct me...

yes they will fit but you need to make sure you have a place that will mount them. Your stock rim is probably 7.5" wide and is under the standard tire rating that most places go by to fit a tire to a rim. they will recommend at least an 8 to 9" rim with a -12 offset for that tire. I have seen the set up your talking about and it is possible.
