i hear you.... i just dont know its is going to be worth it.... i know when i need a winch im really stuck.. with that said idk if a 8k pound with a snatch block will be enough... or if that winch is any good.. i cant belive no ones really tested one yet

I could swear I read somebodies review of that winch.... it worked good but it was slow... Im searching for it but I cant find it. Im probably goin to buy the smittybuilt too when I get a winch bumper next year. I look at it this way, a cheap winch is better the no winch. I really want a powerplant, but its not gonna pull me out sitting at northridges warehouse

Like you, I do not use the winch that much, and have it for the one-in-a-great-while emergency need. I went with the XRC8 and have been happy with it so far. I have used it once to pull out a stuck explorer and it functioned flawlessly.
The only negative...there are about 10 small bolts that hold the cover on the gear housing that are rusting, and the winch has only been on the Jeep a few weeks. I have read of others seeing this also. But it is a cheap fix to go to Lowes and buy some stainless steel replacements and change them out.

If you are looking to not spend too much, just spend the extra $100 for a Ramsey REP 8.5e. It isnt the most powerful or tecnologically advanced winch out there, but the price is very reasonable, the quality is good and it's made in the USA.
