Stingers Yay or Nay?
Do you guys like the look of stingers on Jeeps or being on Jeeps in general?
I love the looks of them them but I just noticed how bad you could really screw a car and the people inside of them up. I see the offroad purpose in them and I really want to get the stinger loop for my Rugged Ridge Bumper. My friend who just put the LOD stinger on his also said the stinger has helped with people cutting him off on the way to work hahaha. I went to the desert rat store some of the guys there were yes and no with stingers. I was thinking if I lifted the jeep a certain height I would avoid having the stinger hitting around a passengers head in case of a side impact like if they were in a car but then a minivans passengers or suv's passengers would be more likely to get stung by the stinger. Also not sure if the stinger would cause any legal issues in case of an accident.

Personally, I don't like them at all. They especially look silly on a DD or on a jeep that never leaves the pavement. Then again, to each their own
Heck I like bobble-head hood ornaments ... go figure

The safety and legal issues with "Stingers " is going to be significant. They extend well past the bumper, and are at a height to seriously impact pedestrians, motorcyclists, cars side windows. They are an "off road only" item, and are going to give modded vehicles a bad name, resulting in more restrictive legislation as to how much vehicles can be changed from "stock". In New York, ball mounts must be removed from receivers when not in use, because of the extension issue, so imagine how "Stingers" will be treated...

I happen to like stingers, especially for their off road purpose in case you roll. However, there really is no place for them on a DD, which is why I chose the hoop over the stinger for my bumper. I can't imagine taking a stinger on my 50+ mile commute into NYC every day. Just parking alone would be an issue. I can see a soccer mom backing her mini van into it or someone driving their car into it as it sticks out of your parking space. Just my opinion. If you have the RR XHD bumper perhaps you can have both; hoop for DD and swap to the stinger when you go off roaring.
