Default Expedition One rear bumper/tire swing question

I have the Expedition One rear bumper with the tire swing. The polyurethane bushings on the connecting arm are creaking every time I open the tailgate lately. Does anyone know what the grease is that is supplied with the Expedition One bumper/tire swing (or what would be the best lube to use for this application)?

Thanks

Why don't you send an email to Expedition 1. You can find an email addy on their website. I have found them to be very supportive of their customers. I had to move the bumper from one jeep to another and cross-threaded one of the attachment L-brackets. I emailed them, and they just sent me a new bracket for free. I would think that a small tube of that lube would be very cheap for them and they may just send you one.

I am not sure what the grease was...some clear thick silicone lube I think, but not sure. I would think they went with that grease just to lower maintenance by lasting longer than standard grease. Try using some water resistant wheel bearing grease and see if it solves your problem.

I've had my bumper for just under a year...no creaks or rattles yet.

If I remember correctly, I paid just under $1300 with free shipping, but that was 1 year ago and prices have gone up. Watch Northridge for general sales...you will probably get your best price there. When Dave puts on a 5 or 10% off everything with free shipping sale, that would be close to the best you will get. Plus you get Northridge's excellent customer service.

As for the install, it is a very heavy bumper and difficult to manuever into place yourself (I did the install solo), but the attachment points all lined up perfectly and it installed fairly easily.

I had emailed Expedition One prior to posting this message. They responded back with the type of grease they use, but did not offer to send any my way (though I did not ask them to). I've had my bumper for a couple of years and it just recently started creaking upon opening. I applied some white lithium grease this time, and it seems to have solved the creak, but I wanted to know what Exp. One uses. I will look up their response and post it for those interested. Basically, it is Energy Suspension's recommended grease, but I don't have the exact stock number on me...

I paid upwards of $1300 for mine also. I used an engine hoist to lift the bumper and slide it into place while I lined up the bolts. I didn't have to lift anything, and was able to install it alone. The quality and fit are excellent. Note: upon initial installation, there was a problem with the connecting arm rubbing when opening, and Expedition One made me a new one as soon as I notified them of the problem and sent it to me asap. I know about their great customer service.
