Default AEV Snorkel: air ram/prefilter

Hi all,
I've the AEV snorkel on my JKU with air ram, but on next saturday i'll leave for a 3 weeks trip to Iceland and therefore I get a prefilter to replace the air ram.
I installed it today but I see that I'd have cutted the snorkel top in order to get it fitted right.
Do you've any expirience in running pre filter without cutting the top? Do you know any particular issue with this?
Because I'd prefer to let it like is it actually, since i'll mount the air ram as soon as I'll be back from Iceland.
Thanks

If I'm not mistaken there is no need to cut the extra bit off the top of the snorkel "tube" for the prefilter. I believe the benefit of cutting the extra bit off is to keep the prefilter flush with the top of the jeep. If you don't trim it it will just be up a few inches higher and maybe look a little goofy. Have fun on your trip and take pictures!

No need to cut other than aesthetics. That said, cutting WILL impact how the ram air works when you swap back.

I bought the Air Ram w/ my snorkel. I am planning on getting the pre-filter too, but I didn't want the AEV pre-filter. Take a look at Donaldson Pre-Filters. Their TopSpin line looks really well suited for dusty environments.

I second this...Have a fantastic time on your trip to Iceland. When I was in the Air Force, Keflavik NAS (Naval Air Station) was my first duty assignment back in 2003 and I had a blast.

Some spots you may want to check out are Gulfoss Falls, Glacier Bay, the Geysir (when I was there you could litterally walk right up to the edge of it) and The Blue Lagoon. Also, check and see if you can get a ride with the 4x4 club up there...(this is one thing I wasn't able to do when I was there but it looked pretty awesome)

Anyway, have a great time and a safe trip.
