Default 3.73's and 35's check in

How many people here are actually running 3.73 gears and 35" tires?

I'm about to buy 35" KM2's and want to know how long I can get by with stock gears: not at all, 3 months, 6 months?

When my jeep goes into the shop I want to take care of a few things at once (gears, dif covers, c gussets, lca skids, axel sleeve). I'll need about 3 months to save.

In that time I will not be offroad, i'll be driving a max of 60 mph on super flat highways to and from work (30 miles a day).

For 3 months sure......but I had 33's and 3.73's and hated it. I could not live with 35's.

I'm in the same boat you are! I got 3.73's but will be doing the re-gear months after the lift and tire installation. I've heard MANY different opinions on this.... A few don't mind/care to re-gear... Others like the one above could not stand it....I think it's all about the way you drive and your local geography

I did it for a couple of months and it didn't bother me at all. I also find myself just accepting that the jk is slow anyway so I've developed some patience with driving it. I,m at about 3500 feet, I think at higher elevation it might bother me a little but I did takee one trip p to a little over 9000 feet and it did fine.

You can go as long as you can stand it. I got my 35's when I had 4:10's and couldn't deal with the loss of power I had to upgrade to 5:13's and love it.

I've got about a year on 35's and 3.73's but i'm also running a superchips which makes a HUGE difference. On flat road it will stay in overdrive but as soon as i get a slight incline it downshifts. I drive a straight a way to work 17 miles each way and i'm getting about 18 mpg. Its liveable for a while but i plan on adding gussets and axle sleeves in the future then regearing.

I have no problem with mine. I do have a stick, and the only thing i have to deal with is when im on the interstate. And i come to a hill i have to down shift out of sixth. I dont plan on re-gearing for awhile. I have other things i want to do first. But i do think it has a lot to do with what tire u have to. Some r heavier than others. Click image for larger version

My 6speed 3.73 is doing fine with 35 duratracs. Getting about 17.5 mpg too!

Could not imagine it on the 4speed auto...

I'm at about sea level. No joke, I live on the coast of the gulf of Mexico. Flat as a board.
