Default Jeep greener than Prius?

I'm thinking that my 14mpg Jeep is greener than a Prius because think of all that asphalt needed for a Prius and my Jeep does just fine on good ole dirt, mud and rock :-)

Prius'es (what the heck is the plural for "Prius"... "Prii"?) are more dangerous too. It's so boring to drive you are 100 times more likely to fall asleep in one of those than in a JK. No lie.

So true. At school we have those parking spaces reserved for the "fuel efficient vehicles" that I decided to park in today. The parking spots are right next to the school police offices and one of the cops actually came out and told me to move. I told him that I had a fuel efficient diesel in there and that I get over 30 mpg. He apologized and went on his way. Can you actually get a ticket for that because my jeep is more fuel efficient than a model t.

Doctor where I work has one of those things. Decent enough fellow, but a real greenpeace type. He pulled up and parked next to me a while back. We talked a bit, and I thanked him for driving that little teeny car and saving all the gas he does, so I can burn it in my Jeep. Then I fired up the Wrangler and.....departed.

My employer thought it was funny, even though he drives a Honda Accord (except when we get a snow storm, then he calls me).

But they know I am "different". I used to drive my 7.5" lift ,camo painted, V-8 Ranger for years.

We all get along fine. But green or not, I am not driving a Prius every day.

To each his own, I reckon.

Yeah, and if you wreck a Prius it is totaled and you have a huge carbon footprint to produce another one complete with all the batteries and such. You wreck a Jeep (and cry first) then you back up, and drive over the totaled prius!!

So waaay greener than a prius!

I drive both...the best of both worlds. Average around 30 mpg.

And, the plural is Prii.

This is a bit dated, but here's an old article on the subject of how environmentally friendly the Jeep is ...
