Default Brake upgrades

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some recomendations on brake upgrades.

The 1st is brakes lines and then any larger caliper/rotor kits or rotor/pad upgrades.

Any personal experience, suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Gary

http://www.teraflex.biz/jk-big-brake-kit.html
The TeraFlex front JK Big Brake Kit is designed as a factory brake upgrade for JK owners looking for a performance brake package that will handle the increased braking requirements needed after larger wheels and tires are used. The Heavy Duty Master cylinder Part# 4303450 $199.99 is highly recommended on all JKs and may be required for those Jeeps with overly soft pedal.

TeraFlex even has install videos for these.

I did a Teraflex Big brake kit a few months ago. I got it on scratch and dent auction off eBay, so it was only about half the retail price. It was brand new, just the packaging was messed up. It was a really easy install, and the stopping power is defiantly increased. The pedal feels the same but I can now get this thing stopped in a hurry! Out back I replaced the stock pads with some PowerStops. All the way around I have braided steel lines. They came with my lift. No problems with them at all. Hope that helps.

Did you install the HD master cylinder also?

I did the same: TF Big brake kit up front, Powerstop slotted rotors with Z16 Evolution pads in back, ss lines all around and included the TF master cylinder. This was on my 2010 JKU with 35'" tires. I wanted extra holding power for the 5.7vvt swap I did. It definately did the job, and the feel is like stock (not grabby at all). I had the new fronts pretty hot going down a high, curvy Colorado pass with an off-road trailer in tow and they started to make a rubbing noise, even with brakes not applied. I don't know what this was, but it went away as they cooled.

Default You guys rule

Thanks for the fast response. This is the info I was looking for. I saw the Crown lines on Ebay, but wasn't sure about the quality. The master cylinder and big brake kit will defo be on my list. I prefer to be able to woah it down before making it harder to stop(bigger tires).

Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming!!!!

No I haven't. I was waiting to see if I needed it. Based on the pedal feel I'm not sure I do. I have one if the 1st '07s (Sep 06 shipping date) and I don't think the pedal is softer than stock. And I really can feel the stopping power over stock anyway. It is on my list though.

It really helps the 07-08's, those years seem to have a smaller master cylinder.

Right on, my buddy did it on his 08 and he said he could feel a little more firmness. Its on my list (just like a long arm upgrade) I'll get to it once I figure out what happens to all the money I put in the bank every month?!
