Default Please Recommend a Dealer - North Miami/Fort Lau Florida area-pulling trigger on 2012

Hello All,

I have been browsing here since the unlimited JK's got released. Been waiting for the new engine. I was hoping for a diesel but have given up on that. Since the interior update last year I have been very tempted but still wanted the new engine. With the new Pentistar and interior its hard to pass up. My 2009 Mini JCW has become a little small for the family even as a second car. I am also new to Florida having moved here just 3 weeks ago. Can someone please recommend a dealer in the North Miami, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale area. I would be willing to drive a little further if it were for good reason but prefer to stay within the areas mentioned.

The color will be a whole other issue. Was leaning towards Dozer but saw it in person on a very bright sunny day and thing it might be a little too much for me to use daily. Now considering Bright White, Winter Chill, Crush, or Black Forest Green....Unless the new Red looks great but the others are in front of it.
The model will either be a Sahara or Rubi with the 3.73 gearing. With painted fenders and hard top if its the Rubi....and leather saddle interior plus side air bags. Considering the NAV but been hearing its terrible...

Thank you in advance for the help.

Max

Make sure you either sign up for Tread Lightly or check to see if your job is an Affliliate member. That way you start your pricing at 1% below invoice. Many people get theirs for 2% below invoice.

Hi

I've seen mention of Tread Lightly or TL and now affiliate. Can you explain please?

Thanks

Max

UPDATE:

I signed up for Tread Lightly 3 year membership. Figured if it helps me its $60 well spent and if not its $60 towards a good cause.

I am wondering how people are getting 2% of invoice price, if anyone wants to chime in with a direction on how or where I listening. Looks like I'm now leaning towards a Rubi but I want one with the 3.73 gears, is that a bad idea. I'll probably never go off roading much (never have as of yet aside from some organized tours) but like the beefier look. Plus, if I start, I'll never be one to mod so better be ready in stock form as much as possible....

I can recommend NOT buying from "Chrysler dodge jeep of north broward" in pompano. They are walking distance from my house, but I finally got sick of dealing with their BS and even drove 30 min for my first oil change rather than give them another dime after the way they treated me when I was ready to buy.

I bought my last truck from Arrigo Sawgrass and was mostly happy - got a good price but had to work for it. Email me or pm me and I'll give you my salesguy's name if you're interested. I have not priced them for a wrangler but am seriously considering a 2012. Def do your homework on the tread lightly etc pricing, I think you should be able to get either 1% or 2% under invoice based on what others are saying.

Please let us know where you end up buying! Also spend plenty of time on the dealer websites, you can verify stock and window stickers before you go. Next new vehicle I buy I am going to do as much online as possible, email them for a price on a specific stock number, and take it or leave it.

I purchased a 2012 at massey yardley in plantation a few weeks ago using the tread lightly discount. They were real easy to deal with. Gave me a little less than i wanted on my trade in and matched the interest rate that i asked for.

There is an awesome dealer named Pat on one of the other forums that has explained how everything works.
Basically, when you use TL, or any other affliate progam (I get 1% below invoice through my job), the dealership is rebated 2% plus hold back from Chrysler. So basically (if I understand it correctly), the dealer makes MORE money selling it to you at 1% under invoice with an affiliate program, than if they sold it to you for straight inovice WITHOUT a program. (Again, because Chrysler rebates them that 2%. Maybe the dealers get other rebates when on a non affiliate sale...I don't know. But I do know that they do make money at 2% under invoice with an affiliate number).

What Pat is doing is passing on that extra 1% to the buyer....thus making it 2% below invoice. He keeps the holdback. It is his "no haggle" easy offer.

That is why so many people end up with 2% under invoice. Once you have this knowledge...it is easy to a dealer with your affiliate number and negotiate from there. Some people have managed to get 2.5% under invoice buy cutting into the hold back (but they may have given up more on a trade in...who knows).

I went to Hollywood and Massey Yardley yesterday, one is 4 miles north of my house, the other 4 miles south. I printed out my USAA/ZAG pricing certificate for the Jeep I wanted to order and went to Hollywood first. Nice salesman, but after going through the configuration I want and printing it out, he says, "ZAG pricing is only for Jeeps on the lot, we're going to have to charge you MSRP." I then said, "Well, my ZAG pricing was cheaper, so I chose that, but if you are going to play that game, I'll use my Tread Lightly membership discount." "Oh, OK, then bring that in, and we'll do 1% over invoice for you." "I think you mean 1% under invoice." "Why would we sell a Jeep below invoice?"

I then asked them to appraise my 2006 Wrangler. "We can't do that, we'll wait until your new Jeep arrives." "But I need to know who will give me the best trade in before I order, can you at least take a look at it?" "I can't do that. We did that for a customer once, and he crashed his car the next day." "Obviously I'm not planning on asking you to pay me the same price for my Jeep in pristine condition and the same if I total it." "Sorry, can't do it." OK, this visit is over.

10 minutes later I'm at Massey Yardley. They honor my USAA pricing for an order without hesitation, and then they immediately appraise my Jeep. It came in lower than Car Max, but when I showed them my Car Max appraisal, they said, "OK, we'll give you that price." I haven't ordered it yet, but I'm probably going back today to pull the trigger.

I feel bad for the salesman at Hollywood Jeep. Management's B.S. policies leave his hands tied, and despite the fact that I would have preferred to buy from him, he's now out a sale he could have easily had.
