What kind of mileage are you getting? I do understand that the price of the swap will most likely never offset the cost of gas, I'm just looking for more range and more power. I've already got all the info for Ripp. Thanks!
Also anyone in SoCal had a swap done at Evo? About what did it cost?

If you have 20-25k to spend on a HEMI swap, I doubt the last thing you need to worry about is your mpg changing a little.

No first hand experience but from what I have read, I do not believe you are going to increase fuel economy, it will likely decrease.

I do not recall seeing many numbers. You might get a little better with the 5.7, especially the VVT. If you drive it real easy.

Good luck with that.

I get about 3 mpg less with the 6.1/auto than the 3.8/stick got. Anywhere between 13 and 17 mpg on 93 octane. I do not have the willpower to drive it like a grandma, I admit.

My daily commute is about 16 miles. I don't really care about gas mileage.

Right now I'm getting about 12 mpg, I'm not worried about the gas mileage as much as the range. I don't like going to the gas station every 200 miles. From what I understand the Ripp will give me about 15 mpg. Part of the problem is that I think my engine is going to need a rebuild sooner than later and how can you complain about a V8 under the hood!

I get about 1 mile per gallon worse with the 5.7 non vvt. than I did with the 3.8. I get 12-15 with the hemi 13-16 with the 3.8

I don't get why people say gas mileage doesn't matter if you've got the money for a hemi. The vehicle is practically useless for long commutes if it only gets 180-220 miles to a tank with a 22 gal tank. It's a legitimate decision point between RIPP or Hemi.

For the people that have done it, what is the best source for a 5.7 vvt in SoCal?

Do your homework. A Hemi swap on a TJ is about $20K.

A JK hemi swap is $10-12K here in CA.

I hope you aren't paying too much more than that unless your adding other things you don't have like a lift, bumpers, and other stuff.
