3.73 with 35's on a 2012
I know there are gear threads all ready but this is not about re-gearing and I only want to here form people with the set up.
So people driving 2012 autos with 35's and 3.73 gears. How is it? I live in a hilly area but not mountainous. I do drive up to and all over the Rockies every summer climbing, but would you call it livable.
thanks
Nate
If its not I'm going with some 255/80 R17's

Its been my experience that there are always at least 2 answers to a question like this. The best answer, or the one you want to hear....
Somewhere in the back of your mind you know running that combo is going to be less than optimal, but you don't want to spend the money to avoid it so you reach out trying to find people to tell you it will be okay.
It will be as okay as you want it to be, but you'll always know you need to upgrade. I went through the same thing when I upgraded to 35's with 4:10. Is it okay? sure. But, every time I get on the freeway, I wait and wait and wait to get it in 6th gear. I know I need to jump to 4:88's to be where I want to be. In the meanwhile, I read threads like these and tell myself my current set up is Aok!
Good luck!

Thank you Yellowjacket, most people don't understand that the gearing is different as well as a much better torque output beginning at 1800 rpms. The Pentstar makes almost 250 ft pounds of torque at 1800 rpms and stays steady all the way, this should allow the jeep to hold O/D on the highway much better, even with larger tires. I for one would trade my '10 in tomorrow if I could be sure that I wouldn't have to regear as soon as I put 35s on.
