AEV Pintlers + TF 2.5
Hey everyone, quick question:
I did several forum searches on this topic and got somewhat conflicting information. I figure many people have the setup I'm planning to run, so I was hoping to get a conclusive answer.
Currently I am running a TF 2.5" coil lift with stock rubicon 32" tires on my stock rubicon 17" rims. I am running Spydertrax wheel spacers to compensate for the required back spacing.
I want in the very near future to go to 35" Duratracs or 33" KM2s (haven't decided) on a set of AEV Pintlers. One of the main reasons for this is I wanna ditch the wheel spacers and get rid of an extra set of bolts
from wheel to axle. So my question:
Will purchasing the 17" AEV Pintlers enable me to get rid of my wheel spacers without causing problems with my 2.5" Teraflex lift? Will any rubbing occur with this new set up, or anything else I should be leery of before I drop dough on some very expensive AEV wheels? Anyone else running this setup happily??
Thanks guys

FWIW, I'm running pintlers on 33" Nitto Trail grapplers with an AEV 2.0 Spacer suspension system and after trimming my airdam, I have no issues. I haven't been off pavement yet but so far so good... I think you'll be fine without additional spacers.
No problems with my setup:

I did adjust my stock sliders because of occasional rubbing with the 35s (it's an issue with all 35s, not the lift and Pintlers). Before:

I have the Teraflex 2.5 coil lift, bilstien 5100s and 315 70 r17s Duratracs on black AEV Pintlers. No spacers. No rubbing. Just trim you rear pinch seems

Im running the 2.5 teraflex coil lift (4 door version) AEV pintler wheels and 35inch KM2's and i am happy with it. Been running the wheel and tire set up for couple months, just swapped from 2inch bb to the coils last week so haven't had a chance to wheel it off-road much.

Awesome information on this thread, I'm glad I posted up guys.
So basically here's the consensus:
With a 35" tire, the rubicon rock tails/pinch seam might rub up on the tire. However, there is absolutely no issue with needing to run wheel spacers with this kit for all to be well?? Do I have it right?
And if one was to run a 33" tire, no trimming at all would be needed?
Last question: is the rail and pinch seam mod only really required under flex, as in, daily driving would not require any cutting?

I have the 2.5" TF coli lift and 33s (Duratracs) on black Pintlers and it flexes just fine I found out yesterday!. I bough the setup to eventually move up to 35s with no problems except the pinch weld and slider trimming thing.
