Default Warranty Question

Will adding a lift kit and larger tires void the lifetime powertrain warranty in any way? What other mods will not void the warranty and what type of mods will void it? Thanks

It is more of a dealership by dealership decision as to what it is that voids a warranty. Some dealers will warranty anything, while others won't. A good rule of thumb is that if your modification caused the part to fail it will not be covered under warranty. So if you run larger tires, that puts more strain on the ring and pinion, axle tubes, axle shafts, etc... Some will cover these failures, others will not.

I'd say "yes" if it ever comes to Chrysler making a coverage decision, but otherwise it depends on the dealership like Littlejon said.

I called my dealership, before I did my mods ,with the same question. The service dept. manager said it could possibly void the suspension warranty but that's all.

The warranty is still valid, the only thing not covered is the stuff you put on unless it is Mopar. This is what it says in my manual.

They have to have concrete evidence that the aftermarket product caused the problem.

As for buying and installing a likt kit and larger tires and other do dads, it's for you to enjoy and for them to prove.

And have you ever tried to use this when you have had an issue it's not that easy and will cost you time and money. You also have to prove that they part did not cause the problem if they said it did. It can cost you just as much to show they are wrong.

It is not a magical act that takes care of everything do some research on cases that have used the act

When reading your post to me it makes it sound like oh no problem it's up to them to prove it's wrong.

I just wanted people to understand that it's not that easy as it sounded in your post. I have had to use it and of the 3 times and twice it's cost me as much to prove the part did not cause the problem as it would have to just let them fix it.

You can easily end up in court and need everything certified.

I have a poor way af writing things to explain what i mean i did not mean to offend you if i did.

ANY modification you do to a vehicle has the potential to void some part of the warranty. It's not as easy as quoting the Magnuson-Moss warranty Act if they decide a mod you did voided some part of your warranty. They can stick to their guns and basically make you prove that it didn't void it. It can cost you small to large losses of time and money to fight. All it would take is the dealer to note on your five year inspection that you have a non-MOPAR lift and bigger tires and you could lose the Lifetime Powertrain warranty. How much time and or money would you be willing to spend to fight something like that if it happened? Seriously?
